Distinguishing Hadronic Cascades from Hydrodynamic Models in Pb(160 AGeV)+Pb Reactions by Impact Parameter Variation

چکیده
We propose to study the impact parameter dependence of the Λ/p ratio in Pb(160AGeV)+Pb reactions. The Λ/p ratio is a sensible tool to distinguish between hadronic cascade models and hydrodynamical models, which incorporate a QGP phase transition. Enhanced antiproton production in Pb(160 AGeV)+Pb reactions: evidence for quark gluon matter?
The centrality dependence of the antiproton per participant ratio is studied in Pb(160 AGeV)+Pb reactions. Antiproton production in collisions of heavy nuclei at the CERN/SPS seems considerably enhanced as compared to conventional hadronic physics, given by the antiproton production rates in pp and antiproton annihilation in pp reactions. This enhancement is consistent with the observation of s...
متن کاملTransverse Pressure and Strangeness Dynamics in Relativistic Heavy Ion Reactions
Transverse hadron spectra from proton-proton, proton-nucleus and nucleus-nucleus collisions from 2 AGeV to 21.3 ATeV are investigated within two independent transport approaches (HSD and UrQMD). For central Au+Au (Pb+Pb) collisions at energies above Elab ∼ 5 AGeV, the measured K transverse mass spectra have a larger inverse slope parameter than expected from the default calculations. The additi...

The measured K + /π + ratios from heavy-ion reactions are compared with the K + /π + ratios from p+p reactions over the energy range 2-160 AGeV. The K/π enhancement in heavy-ion reactions is largest at the lower energies, consistent with strangeness production in secondary scattering becoming relatively more important than initial collisions near the kaon production threshold. The enhancement d...
متن کاملCan Momentum Correlations Proof Kinetic Equilibration in Heavy Ion Collisions at 160 AGeV?
We perform an event-by-event analysis of the transverse momentum distribution of final state particles in central Pb(160AGeV)+Pb collisions within a microscopic non-equilibrium transport model (UrQMD). Strong influence of rescattering is found. The extracted momentum distributions show less fluctuations in A+A collisions than in p+p reactions. This is in contrast to simplified p+p extrapolation...

Abstract: Recent SPS data on the rapidity distribution of protons in p+S, p+Au and S+S collisions at 200 AGeV and preliminary Pb+Pb collisions at 160 AGeV are compared to HIJING and VENUS calculations as well as to predictions based on the Multi-Chain Model (MCM). The preliminary Pb data suggest that a linear dependence of the proton rapidity shift as a function of the nuclear thickness, as fir...
